This Connecticut Line CTSSAR Detachment portrays the Sixth Brigade of Connecticut Militia during the years 1776
through 1783. Oliver Wolcott of Litchfield, Colonel of the 17th Regiment of Connecticut Militia 1775-1776; appointed
Brigadier-General August 12, 1776, assumed command of 14 Connecticut Militia Regiments to serve at New York, the
regiments included the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 6th, 9th, 10th, 13th, 15th, 16th, 17th, 18th, 19th, 22nd and 23rd Regiments of
Connecticut Militia; December, 1776, Appointed Brigadier-General of the Sixth Brigade of Connecticut Militia, consisting of
the 14th, 15th, 17th, 18th, 24th, and 26th Regiments of Connecticut Militia; September-October 1777, marched with 300
volunteers to reinforce General Gates in the Burgoyne Campaign; May 1779, appointed Major-General; active during Tryon’
s raid in July 1779; served through the war; Member of the Continental Congress in 1776 and 1780; Governor of
Connecticut 1796.

This Connecticut Line CTSSAR Detachment is composed of members of the Connecticut Society of the Sons of the
American Revolution's Governor Oliver Wolcott, Sr. Branch Number Ten.
